Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday threw an open challenge to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), stating that the State Government is ready to convene a special session of the Telangana Legislature on any date chosen by the former Chief Minister for a comprehensive discussion on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.

Addressing the issue, Revanth Reddy proposed that a joint session of both Houses of the Legislature be held to discuss every aspect of the Kaleshwaram project before the people of Telangana.

The Chief Minister urged KCR to write to the Assembly Speaker suggesting a suitable date for the special session, assuring that the government would make all necessary arrangements for the debate.

“If you can convincingly explain before the House and earn the confidence of the people on why the Kaleshwaram project should be entrusted to you, we are prepared to hand over the responsibility of carrying out its repairs to you for the next three years,” Revanth Reddy said.

The Chief Minister further assured that the government would ensure the proceedings are conducted in a dignified and orderly manner, with full respect extended to the former Chief Minister throughout the session.

Revanth Reddy stressed that the people of Telangana deserve complete transparency regarding the planning, execution, expenditure, and current condition of the Kaleshwaram project. He said an open debate in the Legislature would provide an opportunity to clarify all issues related to the multi-crore irrigation project in the presence of the public.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government remains committed to accountability and transparency and is prepared for a detailed discussion on the Kaleshwaram project at any time convenient to KCR.
