Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday reiterated that the State Government’s primary objective is to transform Telangana into a “Developed and Healthy Telangana”, with a strong focus on quality education, nutrition, and women’s empowerment.
Speaking after inaugurating a new Balamrutham production plant at Telangana Foods in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said the government is implementing a series of welfare initiatives aimed at improving the health and well-being of students, pregnant women, and economically weaker sections.
Recalling the origins of the Balamrutham initiative, Revanth Reddy said the programme was first introduced during the tenure of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to support pregnant women in Mahabubnagar district and has since evolved into a major nutrition programme.
“The new Balamrutham plant will strengthen the supply of nutritious food to pregnant women and help build a healthier Telangana,” the Chief Minister said.
Education Is an Investment
Emphasising that education remains one of the government’s highest priorities, Revanth Reddy said government schools are being upgraded to match the standards of corporate educational institutions.
He noted that the government has introduced breakfast schemes in government schools to ensure children from economically weaker families do not attend classes on an empty stomach. The initiative has also been extended to provide breakfast and lunch to teachers alongside students.
“Our government considers expenditure on education as an investment in Telangana’s future. These programmes are not being implemented for vote-bank politics but to secure a better future for our children,” the Chief Minister said.
Focus on Women’s Empowerment
Highlighting the government’s welfare measures for women, the Chief Minister said Telangana aims to create one crore women millionaires by 2034 through economic empowerment initiatives.
He listed several flagship programmes implemented by the government, including:
- Free RTC bus travel for more than two crore women.
- Allotment of Indiramma Houses in the names of women.
- Provision of 200 units of free electricity.
- Distribution of fine-quality rice to 3.28 crore beneficiaries.
- A target to construct one lakh urban houses for economically weaker families.
- Ownership of 1,000 RTC buses by women.
- Allocation of 1,000 MW solar power generation projects to women’s groups.
“We are moving forward with the goal of making women financially independent and economically empowered,” Revanth Reddy said.
The Chief Minister also praised the contributions of prominent women leaders, including Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Telangana Minister Dansari Anasuya, saying they have demonstrated exemplary leadership in public life.
Reaffirming the government’s vision, Revanth Reddy said Telangana would continue to invest in nutrition, education, healthcare, and women’s welfare to build a healthier, more inclusive, and developed state.
