Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, and Women & Child Welfare Dansari Anasuya on Tuesday said the newly inaugurated Balamrutham plant at TG Foods would play a crucial role in strengthening nutrition among pregnant women, lactating mothers and young children across the State. She stated that the Congress government is committed to building a healthy Telangana by ensuring quality nutritional support for women and children through modern facilities and welfare initiatives. Speaking at the inauguration of the new Balamrutham plant in Hyderabad, Seethakka said the foundation for Anganwadi centres in Telangana was laid nearly 50 years ago, and the initiative has continued to serve generations of women and children. She recalled that the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi launched Anganwadi services in the erstwhile Palamuru district with the objective of providing nutritious food to children and improving maternal and child health. She said the Congress government of that period had introduced the programme with a long-term vision of combating malnutrition and promoting child welfare.
The Minister said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is working with a clear vision of women’s empowerment and is implementing welfare programmes aimed at ensuring the safety, health and well-being of females at every stage of life—from young girls to elderly women. She said the State Government is introducing several initiatives to improve the nutritional status of children and women while expanding access to quality welfare services.Seethakka said the government has also introduced Balamrutham Plus, an enhanced nutritional supplement designed to provide better nourishment for young children. She noted that the Chief Minister’s primary objective is to eliminate malnutrition among children by ensuring that every beneficiary receives nutritious food through Anganwadi centres and other welfare programmes.
Highlighting the significance of the facility, the Minister said there is no other plant of its kind in the country, describing the new Balamrutham manufacturing unit as a landmark project in the field of child and maternal nutrition. She said the plant would manufacture high-quality nutritious food products for young children while also supporting the health of pregnant women and nursing mothers.Recalling the history of the organisation, Seethakka said it was the Congress government that established TG Foods five decades ago with the objective of producing nutritious food products for vulnerable sections of society. She added that the institution has since become an integral part of Telangana’s nutrition programme and continues to play a vital role in protecting the health of women and children.
The Minister thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for taking time out of his busy schedule to inaugurate the new Balamrutham plant, saying the gesture reflected his commitment and affection towards the women and children of Telangana. She expressed confidence that the new facility would further strengthen the State’s nutrition programmes and contribute significantly to the government’s efforts to eradicate malnutrition.Seethakka also congratulated TG Foods Chairman Rahim for his contribution towards strengthening the organisation and supporting its expansion. She said the modernised facility would help enhance the production and supply of nutritious food products, benefiting lakhs of women and children across Telangana.
