Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Friday announced that the State Government will provide every farmer with a ‘Bhu-Dhaar’ (Land ID) card, complete with a digital land map, within the next two years under the ‘Bhu-Bharathi’ land records reform programme.
Addressing the Rythu Ashirvada Sabha at Jagannadhapuram in Chintakani Mandal of Khammam district, the Minister said the government has launched a comprehensive survey of all agricultural lands in Telangana to modernise and streamline land records.
“We have initiated a new land revolution through the Bhu-Bharathi programme. Every parcel of land in the State will be surveyed, and within two years every farmer will receive a Bhu-Dhaar Land ID card with an authenticated map,” Ponguleti said.
Pilot Project Completed in Mulgumad
The Minister said the programme is currently being implemented in 70 villages across all districts as part of the initial phase. He stated that the pilot project in Mulgumad Revenue Village of Madhira constituency has already been completed, where around 476 farmers received Bhu-Dhaar cards containing digitally mapped land records.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka distributed the first set of Land ID cards to farmers during the public meeting.
71,000 Government Jobs Filled
Highlighting the government’s employment initiatives, Ponguleti said the Congress government has filled 71,000 government jobs within two years and will soon issue recruitment notifications for another 17,000 to 20,000 vacancies.
He described the recruitment drive as one of the largest employment initiatives undertaken by any state government in recent years.
₹63,000 Crore Interest-Free Loans for Women’s Groups
The Minister said the government has extended ₹63,000 crore in interest-free loans to women Self-Help Groups as part of its mission to economically empower nearly one crore women across Telangana.
He said the government aims to transform women into successful entrepreneurs through financial assistance, skill development and livelihood opportunities.
Criticism of Kaleshwaram Project
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy also criticised the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government over the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, alleging that corruption was evident in the project’s execution.
He claimed the Congress had highlighted irregularities in the project even before the elections and said subsequent developments had vindicated those concerns. The Minister accused the opposition of attempting to shift responsibility for alleged irregularities onto the present government and urged it to refrain from spreading what he described as misinformation.
Housing for Every Eligible Poor Family
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to housing, Ponguleti said the ultimate objective of the Indiramma Housing Scheme is to ensure that every eligible poor family owns a permanent house.
He stated that the government has already completed the second phase of house sanctions and assured that the remaining phases would be implemented expeditiously so that all eligible beneficiaries receive housing assistance.
The Minister said the Congress government remains committed to transparent governance, land reforms, employment generation, women’s empowerment and farmer welfare, adding that these initiatives are aimed at creating long-term economic security for every household in Telangana.
