In an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, BRS Working President seeks enhanced recruitment, age relaxation, and immediate action on promises made to unemployed youth.

HYDERABAD, JULY 3 (The Journalist Post):  Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has demanded that the Telangana Government immediately issue a recruitment notification for at least 20,000 Police Constable posts, stating that the existing proposal to fill only 5,000 vacancies would be unfair to lakhs of job aspirants.

In an open letter addressed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR said the concerns of Police Constable and Sub-Inspector (SI) aspirants deserve urgent attention. He stated that a majority of candidates preparing for police recruitment come from poor and middle-class rural families who spend years preparing for competitive examinations while living away from their homes.

KTR alleged that although information obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) Act indicated that around 17,000 police posts are vacant in the state, and despite the Chief Minister’s earlier assurances regarding filling around 12,000 vacancies, the government has announced recruitment for only 5,000 posts, leaving nearly 15 lakh aspirants disappointed.

Highlighting the previous BRS government’s recruitment record, KTR claimed that nearly 47,000 police jobs were notified in three phases between 2016 and 2022. He also stated that the previous government had notified over 2.32 lakh government posts, filled around 1.60 lakh vacancies, and secured 95 percent local reservation benefits for Telangana youth.

Criticising the Congress government, KTR alleged that several promises made under the party’s Youth Declaration, including filling two lakh government jobs within a year, releasing an annual job calendar, and providing ₹4,000 monthly unemployment allowance, remain unfulfilled. He further claimed that the present government has recruited only around 17,000 new employees during its tenure.

The BRS leader urged the government to issue a notification for at least 20,000 police posts and relax the upper age limit for recruitment. He demanded that the maximum age limit for Constable recruitment be increased from 32 years to 36 years and for SI recruitment from 35 years to 37 years, considering the long gap since the last recruitment notification.

KTR also argued that since the physical standards for Constable and SI recruitment are largely similar, eligible candidates should not lose the opportunity due to age restrictions. He warned that if the government fails to address the demands of unemployed youth, the BRS would launch a statewide agitation in support of police job aspirants.
