Telangana to Become a $3 Trillion Economy by 2047; Farmers’ Welfare at the Core of Congress Agenda : DYCM Bhatti Vikramarka

THE JOURNALIST POST
KHAMMAM | July 10, 2026

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday said the Telangana Government is committed to transforming the State into a $3 trillion economy by 2047, while ensuring inclusive development through women’s empowerment, farmer welfare, transparent governance, and sustained investments in agriculture.

Addressing the Rythu Ashirwada Sabha at Jagannadhapuram Crossroads in Chintakani Mandal of Khammam district, Bhatti Vikramarka said the Congress government aims to make Telangana globally competitive while protecting public wealth and strengthening the rural economy.

“We will shape Telangana to compete with the world. Our goal is to build a $3 trillion economy by 2047. Agriculture is not merely a profession—it is our culture and way of life,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.

Highlighting the government’s focus on farmers, Bhatti stated that the Congress administration has spent ₹1,67,877 crore on agriculture and allied sectors in just two and a half years. He said the government released ₹9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme within just nine days, contrasting it with the previous BRS government’s implementation of Rythu Bandhu, which he alleged often took 140 to 160 days for payments.

He said the Congress government has increased investment assistance to ₹12,000 per acre, waived farm loans worth ₹21,000 crore, ensured procurement of paddy, maize and sorghum, expanded crop loss compensation, and spends nearly ₹14,000 crore annually on free electricity for agriculture.

Stressing women’s empowerment, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government considers women as “Mahalakshmis” and has revived interest-free loans for Self-Help Groups. He noted that the government aims to facilitate ₹1 lakh crore in bank linkage loans for women’s groups over five years, of which ₹67,000 crore has already been mobilised in two and a half years. The loan ceiling has also been increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh, while women continue to benefit from free RTC bus travel and entrepreneurship opportunities.

The Deputy Chief Minister asserted that the Congress government inherited a debt burden of ₹8.21 lakh crore, yet continues to implement welfare programmes without interruption. He said 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses have been sanctioned with ₹5 lakh financial assistance each, over 1.06 crore families are receiving subsidised fine rice, 53 lakh households are benefiting from 200 units of free electricity, Aarogyasri health insurance has been enhanced to ₹10 lakh, and Indiramma Bima has been introduced for 1.15 crore families.

On irrigation, Bhatti contrasted Congress-era projects such as Nagarjuna Sagar, Srisailam, Jurala, Pulichintala and the Sri Ram Sagar Project, stating that they continue to irrigate lakhs of acres decades after construction. He alleged that the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, built during the BRS regime at a cost of around ₹1.4 lakh crore, had failed after structural problems emerged at the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages.

The Deputy Chief Minister accused BRS leaders of spreading misinformation and surviving on “false propaganda,” alleging that public resources had been misused during the previous regime. He asserted that the Congress government would not allow corrupt forces to dominate the State and pledged to safeguard public wealth while ensuring prosperity for all sections of society.

Bhatti Vikramarka also highlighted the government’s investments in education, including school infrastructure upgrades, increased diet and cosmetic charges for students, and plans to introduce midday meals for intermediate students.

Concluding his address, the Deputy Chief Minister called upon the people to support the government’s development agenda, stating that Telangana’s future lies in transparent governance, strong agriculture, empowered women, and sustainable economic growth that will make the State globally competitive by 2047.
