State Minister Vakiti Srihari reaffirmed that the Telangana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is giving the highest priority to the welfare of farmers, describing agriculture as the foundation of the state’s growth and prosperity.

Addressing the Rythu Ashirvada Sabha held at Matkepalli Cross Road in Chintakani Mandal of Khammam district, the Minister said the government’s commitment to the farming community is reflected in the swift release of ₹9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme within just nine days. He stated that the assistance has benefited 73.30 lakh farmers covering 1.51 crore acres, ensuring timely investment support for cultivation.

Vakiti Srihari said that since the Congress government assumed office, ₹36,321 crore has been directly credited into farmers’ bank accounts under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, providing crucial financial assistance to farming families across Telangana.

Quoting the Bhagavad Gita“Annad Bhavanti Bhutani” (all living beings are sustained by food)—the Minister said farmers occupy the most important place in society as food producers. He asserted that the government’s development vision is built on the principle that strengthening agriculture is essential for building a prosperous Telangana.

Highlighting the government’s farmer-centric initiatives, the Minister said the administration is implementing programmes such as Rythu Bharosa, farm loan waiver, farmer insurance, 24-hour free electricity for agriculture, timely paddy procurement, prompt payments, and bonus support for fine-variety paddy.

He noted that the government has waived farm loans worth ₹20,616 crore, benefiting nearly 25 lakh farming families. In addition, the state has spent ₹82,840 crore on crop procurement since assuming office to ensure farmers receive remunerative prices without marketing difficulties.

The Minister also said that ₹4,275 crore was spent on maize procurement, enabling farmers to secure better returns for their produce.

Vakiti Srihari emphasized that the Congress government views agriculture not merely as an economic activity but as the backbone of Telangana’s development. He said the Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is committed to implementing people-centric policies that will make Telangana’s agricultural sector a model for the country.

Recalling the vision of Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, regarded as the father of India’s Green Revolution, the Minister said the government is working towards building a Telangana where every farming family prospers.

He appealed to the people of Telangana to continue extending their support and blessings to the government’s mission of ensuring sustainable farmer welfare and agricultural growth.
