DEVARAKADRA (Mahabubnagar) | July 8: Telangana Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Vakiti Srihari on Wednesday participated in various development programmes at Duppalli village in Devarakadra Assembly constituency, where they inaugurated Indiramma Houses and newly constructed CC roads.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Vakiti Srihari said the state government was implementing the Indiramma Housing Scheme as a mission across all Assembly constituencies, ensuring that every eligible poor family receives a house irrespective of political affiliation. He said the allocation process was being carried out transparently without corruption and that no money was being collected from beneficiaries.
The Minister said the Congress government had succeeded in procuring 80 lakh metric tonnes of paddy while providing a bonus to farmers. He added that the government was supplying 6 kg of fine rice every month to eligible beneficiaries through ration shops.
Questioning the BJP, Srihari asked why similar fine rice distribution schemes were not being implemented in BJP-ruled states. He also highlighted the government’s free RTC bus travel scheme for women, describing it as another major welfare initiative.
Criticising the previous BRS government, he questioned why it had failed to provide double-bedroom houses to the poor during its ten-year rule. He alleged that the BRS was hoping the Congress government would fail in implementing welfare programmes such as Indiramma Houses, free bus travel, Rythu Bharosa, and Rythu Bheema, but asserted that the government had successfully continued all these schemes.
The Minister said the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, would continue accelerating development works across Telangana. He announced that, as part of the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project, water would be supplied to the Karvena Reservoir.
He further stated that despite inheriting a debt burden of around ₹8 lakh crore from the previous government, the Congress government had not discontinued welfare schemes and was continuing them without interruption.
Referring to the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS), Srihari alleged that BRS leaders had ignored the issue while in power and were raising it only after losing office.
